Getting started on Bornholm

Registering in Denmark and other practical matters

On these pages you will find information on both the obligatory official matters that need to be handled first thing when you arrive in Denmark (registration, applying for a cpr-number, tax card etc.) and other important practical matters.

In addition to the information on this site, we have gathered a handful of useful links to make everything as easy as possible.

Bornholm, but why?

Anzhelika is from Ukraine: “ I came to Denmark – Ålborg 5 years ago, but prefer living in a smaller society, where there is trust between people and neighbors who help each other.  Bornholm is a small island, people here are friendly and helpful and we have a great life in the middle of beautiful nature”

Reká is from Hungary and came to Bornholm 2 years ago: “ My husband is from Iceland and has relatives here on the island. The first time I was here, I fell in love with the nature and the people and I love my life here.

We bought a house in Rønne, close to the beach, I love the beach, to swim and walk with the wind in my hair. I have many friends here, a nice job and enjoy learning Danish and the Danish traditions – eg. The Christmas tradition dancing around the Christmas tree.”
